FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Q1. What is a Bill of Lading (B/L)?

A Bill of Lading (B/L) is the most important legal document in international trade. Issued by the carrier (shipping company) to the shipper, it proves receipt of the goods, establishes a contract of carriage between the carrier and the shipper, and serves as the crucial "document of title" to the goods. Only the holder of the original Bill of Lading has the right to collect the goods at the destination. It can also be used for transfer, mortgage, or bank financing. [Why is it so important?] In international trade, the seller receives the Bill of Lading after loading the goods onto the ship and can then apply for financing at a bank to receive payment; the buyer, however, needs the original Bill of Lading to collect the goods at the port of destination. It's like the goods' "identity card" and "delivery receipt"—it absolutely cannot be lost!

  • Q2. What is an electric discharge?

In ocean freight, shippers typically need to present the original bill of lading to collect their goods upon arrival at the destination port. However, if the original bill of lading fails to arrive at the destination port in time, or to save time and costs, shippers can request a "telegraphic release." The telegraphic release process involves the shipper returning the original bill of lading to the shipping company, which then sends a telegraphic release notice to the destination port. The consignee can then collect the goods without presenting the original bill of lading. Advantages of telegraphic release include: ● Saves time, eliminating the need to wait for the bill of lading to be mailed ● Reduces the risk of loss ● Provides flexibility for handling urgent shipments

  • Q3. What is the difference between FCL and LCL?

FCL (Full Container Load) involves a single customer occupying an entire container, suitable for large shipments requiring dedicated space or with stringent time requirements. Costs are calculated per full container, and space is not shared with other shippers. LCL (Less than Container Load) combines cargo from multiple customers into a single container, suitable for smaller shipments that don't fill a full container. Costs are calculated based on actual volume or weight, offering greater economic flexibility. How to choose? Generally, for shipments exceeding 15 CBM, FCL can be considered; for shipments under 15 CBM, LCL is recommended. However, the actual situation requires a comprehensive evaluation based on the shipping route, schedule, and budget. Contact Haiyue for the best solution.

  • Q4. What should I do if there's a problem with the goods during transport?

Haiyue provides full cargo tracking service, with a dedicated window providing real-time updates on the latest status. In the event of delays, damage, or other abnormalities during transit, we will: ● Notify you immediately and explain the situation ● Assist in negotiating with shipping companies and carriers ● Provide alternative solutions or remedial measures ● Assist in providing relevant documents for insurance claims. We recommend consulting us before departure regarding cargo insurance arrangements to reduce transportation risks.
